Mozilla Open Badges

In 2011, the Mozilla Foundation began development of the Open Badges Initiative (OBI), an open source common framework for issuing, collecting, and displaying digital badges. The ecosystem of OBI-compliant digital badges is envisioned as serving issuers, earners, and employers to display personal collections of earned digital badges across issuing organizations.

As described by Mozilla, “A digital badge is an online representation of a skill you’ve earned. Open Badges take that concept one step further, and allows you to verify your skills, interests and achievements through credible organizations. And because the system is based on an open standard, you can combine multiple badges from different issuers to tell the complete story of your achievements — both online and off.”Learn more about Mozilla Open Badges Mozilla Open Badges online.
